A proud Temeculan through and through, Bernard has spent his life enjoying the area’s many splendors – from its majestic vineyards and scenic trails to its rich history and ranching character. Truax Hotel breaks ground in Old Town Temecula

Bernie Truax had the look of a man both relieved and excited to be embarking on construction of the $135 million Truax Hotel that will be located on the southern end of Old Town Temecula when it opens sometime in the year 2021.

After addressing a crowd of about 100 friends, family, partners and dignitaries during the hotel groundbreaking celebration event Friday, Aug. 16, he reflected on the speech he gave about how long it has taken to get to the point of starting construction on the project.

Luxury hotel project in Old Town Temecula moving forward
Temecula area residents will get their first chance to see detailed plans for the luxury hotel that is being proposed by Truax Development at a public meeting set for Monday night.
They’ll also get the opportunity to weigh in on the environmental documentation for the project, which looks at how it will affect traffic, noise and air quality in the historic region.

The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. in the Civic Center’s conference center, 41000 Main Street. Those who can’t make the meeting can access the information at city hall and provide a comment through Feb. 15.

TEMECULA: Developer building hotel with rooftop pool in Old Town
Bernie Truax, the developer who built the Truax Building in Old Town Temecula, wants to build a five-story hotel with a rooftop pool, a project that would give the historic district an amenity long-enjoyed by visitors to San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter and other tourism hotspots.

TEMECULA: Developer building hotel in Old Town (UPDATE)
The hotel, which is in the design review stage of the planning process, will front the length of Third Street from Mercedes Street to Old Town Front Street, according to renderings released by Truax Development. Across the street, east of the Swing Inn, Truax wants to put in a valet parking lot with a capacity for 201 vehicles.
